The rotator cuff is what holds your upper arm bone in the shoulder socket and helps to lift and rotate your arm. A rotator cuff tear is a common cause of pain and disability among adults. A torn rotator cuff will weaken your shoulder. This means that many daily activities, like combing your hair or getting dressed, may become painful and difficult to do.
The Arthrex® SpeedBridge™ repair is a surgical technique system for repair of a rotator cuff tear includes a fully threaded SwiveLock® anchor combined with FiberTape® to create a quick and secure construct with no knots and only two suture passing steps. The result is a low profile, transosseous-equivalent “SutureBridge” that enhances footprint compression to maximize contact between tendon and bone. The SpeedBridge utilizes FiberTape which provides three times the contact area compared to a standard #2 FiberWire®. It provides a broad footprint which can be helpful for repairs in degenerative cuff tissue where tissue pull-through may be a concern. This procedure may help relieve pain in the shoulder and improve function to resume normal daily activities.
